East Cork junior B hurling final 2006; Carrigtwohill 1-12 St Itas 2-7

This was a display our boys can be proud of but unfortunatley things did not work out in our favour on the day. Carrigtwohill were by far the better side in the first half, consistently knocking over points as they gained a convincing 4 point lead, then came the hammer blow for itas when the Carrig full forward done superbly well to round st. Itas goalkeeper Pat O' Brien to tap into an empty net. Things would have been looking very grim for Itas at half time only for a beatiful piece of magic from itas half forward jerry Mac who drilled home a 20 yard free. this left 6 points between the sides at half time. Neilus foley replaced Mark Foley at half time and Itas now playing with the wind looked much more confident and started to believe a comeback was on the cards. Eoin Loughlain and Brian O Connell knocked over points for Itas and then Paddy Ahern was introduced from the bench with immediate success, he scored a point to leave just 4 between the teams. More points from the team leader Eoin Loghlain and the fantastic Ed Coleman brought the diffrence down to just 2. But once again Carrig began to pull away with 3 more quick points. things were looking grim for Itas until once again the mighty Jerry Mac worked his stuff with another goal from a free. Unfortunatley Itas could never get that extra goal they so desperatley needed and they eventually lost by just 2 points. Nontheless this was a good spirited display from the lads and offers lots of encouragement for the future.

East Cork Under 21 div 3 hurling Semi Final 2006

The lads put in a marvelous effort to beat a tough Lisgoold side last week in pilmore. It was always a close match but itas were the better team on the day, winning by 5 points. A David Cunningham goal was the real hammer blow for Lisgoold late on in the second half and further points from Eoin Loaghlain, Paddy Ahern and Sean Gleeson proved too much of an obstacle for Lisgoold to recover from. Ed Coleman put in a great display fom the center of midfield in his first game back from injury. St.Itas team on the day: Seamus Harnedy, David Foley, Finbarr Foley, Alan Mythan, Jay Keneiry, Mike O Neill, Padraig O Brien, Niall O Neill, Tom MacCarthy, Ed Coleman, Dave Cunny, Eoin Loaghlain, Paddy Ahern, David Ahern, Sean Gleeson, Adrian O Neill, John Foley, Micheal Cunningham.

East Cork Junior B divisional hurling Final 2006

Alot was expected of St. Itas before this crunch game, which would decide who would represent east cork in the county championships. Itas as last years champions went into the game as favourites however Balinacurra were well up for this one and went into attacking mode right from the off. Itas scored an early goal from corner forward Sean Gleeson and put over some nice points from Eoin Loghlain and Jerry McCarthy however Balinacurra got a goal of their own soon after and finished the half stronger. The score was 1-3 to 1-3 at half time and Itas made a couple of changes but not to much avail. Balinacurra kept knocking over the scores and Itas seemed to freeze bar a lovely point from Alan Loghlain and a well taken free from Eoin. Despite a last gasp effort from Itas towards the end, it finished 1-8 to 1-5 in favour of the underdogs. Balinacurra will now go on to represent East Cork in the county.
